"How did we get here?". I know that's a rhetorical question. Lazy, willfully ignorant comes to mind. A John Wayne quote from one of his movies comes to mind as well: "Life is tough, it's even tougher if you're stupid". As a culture we are guilty of being very stupid. As members of Western Civilization, we are guilty of being suicidal.
